Terms and Conditions of Use — RedNodos.co
1. What Nodos is
Nodos is a technology platform that connects volunteers with organizations and leaders driving community initiatives in Colombia. Nodos acts solely as an intermediary: it puts people who offer their time, knowledge, or talent in touch with those who need it, but it does not participate in, direct, supervise, or take responsibility for the activities coordinated between users outside the platform.
By using Nodos, you accept these Terms and Conditions. If you do not agree, you should not register for or use the platform.
2. Nodos is not a donation platform
Nodos exists to connect knowledge, time, and talent. The platform is not designed or authorized to collect, process, or channel financial donations of any kind.
- Nodos will never ask you for money, transfers, or financial information on its behalf, through any channel (the platform, email, WhatsApp, or social media).
- If another user asks you for money, a donation, or any financial contribution, this is not something Nodos manages or endorses. Before making any financial contribution to someone you met on the platform, verify that person's or organization's identity on your own and make sure you trust the recipient. Nodos cannot confirm or guarantee where that money goes.
- Any exchange of money between users happens entirely outside Nodos and is each user's own responsibility.
3. Registration and accuracy of information
To use Nodos you must register and create a profile, either as a volunteer or as a person/organization publishing initiatives. By registering, you agree to:
- Provide truthful information about yourself or the organization you represent.
- Keep your profile up to date.
- Be at least 18 years old. Nodos is not designed for minors to register as platform users. Initiatives involving children or adolescents as beneficiaries must comply with applicable Colombian child-protection regulations (for example, Law 1098 of 2006 — the Code for Children and Adolescents), a responsibility that falls on whoever publishes the initiative.
4. You may not publish on behalf of another person or organization without authorization
If you publish an initiative, apply to one, or create a profile, you must do so on your own behalf or with the express authorization of the organization you represent. It is prohibited to:
- Create a profile or organization in the name of a third party (a person or organization) without their consent.
- Use the name, logo, image, or information of an organization to publish initiatives that organization has not authorized.
If an organization or person believes someone is using their name or identity without authorization on Nodos, they can report it (see section 7) and Nodos will remove the content while the situation is verified.
5. Nodos does not verify every user's identity
Nodos facilitates contact between volunteers and organizations or leaders, but does not thoroughly verify the identity, background, or intentions of every user before allowing them to register or publish. Before accepting an application, coordinating an in-person activity, or sharing contact information, it is each user's responsibility to:
- Verify who they are about to work or coordinate with.
- Take reasonable precautions before meeting in person with someone met through the platform (for example, meeting in public places, letting someone you trust know about the meeting, and taking the same care you would with any stranger).
- Take extra care with initiatives involving children or adolescents.
Nodos may, in the future, offer optional verification mechanisms (for example, a "verified organization" badge), but whether or not that is available, a verification badge does not replace each user's own judgment.
6. Prohibited conduct and content
You may not use Nodos to:
- Publish false, misleading, fraudulent, or illegal initiatives or content.
- Solicit or promote financial donations through the platform (see section 2).
- Discriminate, harass, or incite violence against any person or group.
- Publish content that endangers children or adolescents, or that violates child-protection regulations.
- Use contact information obtained through Nodos for purposes other than coordinating the initiative for which it was shared (for example, spam or unrelated commercial purposes).
- Impersonate another person or organization (see section 4).
7. Moderation and reports
Initiatives are published immediately, without prior review. Nodos reviews published content afterward, prioritizing reports related to child safety, requests for money, and impersonation.
Any user can report an initiative, profile, or message that violates these Terms. Nodos may, at its discretion, remove content, or suspend or delete accounts that violate what is established here, without prior notice when the situation warrants it (for example, risk to minors or requests for money).
8. Nodos' role and limitation of liability
Nodos is not a party to the agreements, activities, or arrangements that arise between volunteers and organizations or leaders. Accordingly, Nodos is not responsible for:
- The quality, safety, legality, or outcome of published initiatives.
- The behavior of users on or off the platform.
- Damages, losses, or harm resulting from contact or activity coordinated between users.
- Any misuse a user makes of another user's contact information.
Nodos commits to acting in good faith to keep the platform a trustworthy space, but cannot guarantee the conduct of third parties.
9. Handling of personal data
Nodos handles its users' personal data in accordance with Law 1581 of 2012 and Decree 1377 of 2013 of the Republic of Colombia (general personal data protection regime — habeas data).
- Data collected: name, email, phone/WhatsApp, location, causes of interest, and any other information the user chooses to include in their profile (bio, photo, social media, organization description).
- Purpose: connecting volunteers with initiatives and organizations, enabling communication between both parties once a mutual agreement exists (for example, upon accepting an application), and improving the platform.
- Who sees each piece of data: the public profile (name, causes, general location, bio) is visible to any Nodos visitor. Direct contact information (email and, if provided, phone/WhatsApp) is only revealed to the other party once an application has been accepted.
- Data subject rights: every user can access, update, correct, and request the deletion of their personal data at any time, either from their profile's Settings section or by writing to hola@rednodos.co.
- Retention: data is kept while the account is active. When a profile is deleted, its associated personal data is deleted as well, except for information Nodos must retain due to legal obligations.
10. Intellectual property
Content each user publishes (initiative descriptions, bios, photos) remains their own, but by publishing it on Nodos they authorize the platform to display it publicly in order to fulfill its purpose of connecting volunteers with initiatives.
11. Account deletion
Any user can delete their profile at any time from the Settings section. Nodos may also suspend or delete accounts that violate these Terms, especially in cases of impersonation, requests for money, or content that endangers children or adolescents.
12. Changes to these Terms
Nodos may update these Terms and Conditions when necessary. Significant changes will be announced on the platform. Continued use of Nodos after a change implies acceptance of the new Terms.
13. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of Colombia. Any dispute related to the use of Nodos will be resolved in accordance with current Colombian law.
14. Contact
For questions about these Terms, to report content, or to exercise your rights over your personal data, you can write to hola@rednodos.co.
